During his search for a new Americana location in Seattle, executive chef Jeffrey “Cheffrey” Wilson discovered a charming Italian restaurant in the Maple Leaf neighborhood. Its cozy vibe and local feel made it the perfect spot for his new restaurant. Cheffrey was inspired by the atmosphere and menu so much that he decided to put an Italian twist on his new venture, and thus Cucina Americana was born! The menu is inspired by home cooked, rustic Italian cuisine. It puts an Italian twist on American comfort food. Dishes and ingredients will rotate seasonally, and brunch will be the same beloved menu as the original Americana location. The cocktail menu focuses on Amaro, Italy’s favorite liqueur, with pairings and tastings available. Cucina Americana is a neighborhood restaurant, family-friendly, available for private parties and celebrations, we hope to be Maple Leaf’s favorite culinary stop.
About The Chef
Derek May was born and raised in Arizona by a family of bar and restaurant owners from Detroit. It was May’s abundant energy (and his grandmother) that inspired him to cook professionally. After spending five years as a sous chef in San Francisco, May moved to Seattle and took a position as Chef de Cuisine at Quinn’s Pub on Capitol Hill, where he worked for the next two years. In 2011, May went to work with Ethan Stowell at How to Cook a Wolf and Anchovies and Olives until he left in 2015
